Christine Mary Dougherty (nee Aulbach) of Raleigh, North Carolina Passed away on Monday, March 27th at the age of 70. Chris was born on December 10, 1952 in Queens County, NY and grew up in Mineola, NY on Long Island. She attended Corpus Christi Elementary School, and Maria Regina High School on Long Island before entering the State University of New York's Medical Technology program where she earned a Bachelor of Science in 1975.
Christine worked as a Medical Technologist at Nassau Hospital in New York before moving to Temecula, California to continue her work in the medical technology field. While working at Tri-City Hospital in Oceanside, California she met her best friend and future husband, Tom. After many years on the west coast, they moved to Raleigh to care for Chris' mother. Christine continued her work there as a CLIA Laboratory Inspector for the State of North Carolina.
Christine loved to travel, especially cruising with Tom. She also loved photography, fine wine and never read a book she didn't like.
Christine was preceded in death by her father, John Robert Aulbach; her mother, Claire Angela Wichern and her favorite four-legged friend, Scooter. She is survived by her husband of 24 years, Tom; her brothers, Jack, Jim, and Jeff Aulbach; seven nieces and nephews and stepchildren.
The family would like to express a special thank you to Renaissance Care Homes for the great care, comfort and love they provided for Christine in the last years of her life.
