Creed Taylor Huddleston, III, passed away unexpectedly on July 20, 2025, in Raleigh, North Carolina. Creed was a beloved husband, father, brother, son, friend, and dog parent; a dedicated member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church; a brilliant software engineer; a voracious reader; and a lifelong learner. He was clever, witty, and had a delightfully offbeat sense of humor. Creed thrived on making as many people as possible laugh. He cared deeply about others, and he will be greatly missed.
Creed was born in Denver, Colorado, and grew up primarily in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, where he graduated from Putnam City High School. At Rice University, he got a degree in electrical engineering, met his college sweetheart Lisa Schulz, and got into more than his share of hijinks. Creed and Lisa married in 1983 and lived in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, where their three children, Kate, Lee, and Dan were born. They moved to Raleigh in 1995, although Creed continued to refer to Texas as “God’s country.”
At St. Andrews, he was an elder, deacon, avid volunteer, and frequent vacation bible school cast member. He was a devoted dad, coaching soccer and hockey, laughing through family dinners, and relishing answering the many “why” questions posed by his children. Creed also got a master’s degree in cyber security from New York University and wrote the book Intelligent Sensor Design: Using the Microchip dsPIC, which was translated into several languages.
Creed was predeceased by his parents, June and Creed Huddleston, Jr., and his sister Sarah. He is survived by his wife, Lisa; his children, Kate, Lee, and Dan; his sister, Susan Belote, brother-in-law, James, and nieces Kristen, Taylor, and Jennifer; and his dog, Cassie.
A celebration of Creed’s life will be held at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church on Saturday, July 26. The family will visit with friends from 12 pm to 1:45 pm, after which the service will be held at 2 pm.
In lieu of flowers, please send memorial contributions to Book Harvest at https://bookharvest.givevirtuous.org/donate/joy, in honor of Creed’s lifelong joy in reading and his beloved (and crowd-pleasing) habit of reading aloud to any children who would listen, with carefully crafted and energetically delivered voices for each character.
