Darryl worked 32 years for Penelec, where everyone knew they could count on Darryl and his crew to restore their power quickly. After retiring, he worked for Bill Pykus and Sons Excavating until moving to N.C. in 2016. He was a past member of the Lake Como Lions Club and the Northern Wayne Fire Department.
Darryl enjoyed hunting, watching his children play sports, romping with his grandchildren, teaching them new tricks, and tending his perfect yard.
Darryl was known as Poppy to his grandchildren and all of their friends. He played ball with them, taught them to ride their bikes and always made them laugh.
Darryl is survived by his wife, Rosemary (Matarese) of 58 years; a daughter, Lisa and husband Charles Phillips; son, David and Jodi Roney; and his grandchildren, Caden, Julianne, and Kelley; a sister, Nancy Worobey; and two brothers, Tom and Roy Roney.
He was predeceased by his parents, Vernon and Betty Roney.
No funeral or memorial service is planned at this time. The family will notify loved ones in the future when a celebration of life is scheduled.
