

Della Mildred Chalk Dixon died peacefully on Saturday, July 23, 2016. She was born in Franklin County, near Youngsville, N.C. on August 4, 1926 to the late William Charles Chalk and Telia Grissom Chalk.
She is survived by brothers Thomas Chalk, Douglas Chalk (Hilda) and Everett Chalk (Jeanette), daughter Carol Ryder (Jeff), son Brian Dixon (Becky) and son Brad Dixon (Marie), five grandchildren, Elizabeth Rorie, Sarah Salem, Alexandra Dixon, Christopher Dixon and Amanda Dixon and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Emilo Jackson “Mike” Dixon and grandson Nicholas Ratcliff.
Working alongside with her husband and their business partner Jim Spencer, she successfully managed Dixon and Spencer Television in downtown Raleigh for approximately 20 years. She developed many life long friendships through her work career.
Mildred served faithfully in her church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, sharing her love of God and her Savior.
Mildred greatly enjoyed visiting with dear friends, especially as her health declined. Counted among those dear friends are the wonderful people of Transitions LifeCare. Thanks to each of you for your love and support.
Her joy and happiness was with her family. She looked forward to every opportunity to get together. We will miss her everyday and at special times of the year as we go forward. But we have an abundance of memories to cherish. She was dedicated to her family and friends and to every endeavor she pursued.
Family will receive friends on Saturday, July 30, 2016 from 10-11 am at the Mausoleum Chapel of Raleigh Memorial Park (7501 Glenwood Avenue), with Graveside Services to be held following at 11 am.
