Diane Lynn Bush

She was the first born to James and Faustina Fogarty on March 25, 1953 in Hartford, CT. She graduated from St. Bernard Girls’ High School in 1971 and Fairfield University in 1975. In February 1987, Diane married Robert E. Bush in Houston, TX where they made their home until relocating to Cary, NC in 1999.

While in Houston, Diane worked as an editor for MD Anderson Medical Center. In North Carolina, while devoting most of her time raising her children, she was a substitute teacher for the Wake County Public School System.

An active member of The Church of the Good Shepherd in Raleigh, Diane taught Sunday school and was a member of the Altar Guild and the Daughters of the King. Many great times were shared with her “bunko friends” and it was with these eight special women she spent her last glorious hours walking Topsail Beach.

Diane was a proud and reliable family historian with a keen memory of important family dates. A fabulous cook, she was the “go-to” for culinary inspiration.

In addition to her husband, Diane is survived by her daughter, Kaitlyn of Panama City Beach, FL; son, Ian of Cary; her mother, Faustina of Mystic, CT; siblings, Pam Fogarty of Lexington, MA, Juleigh Wilson of Hopkinton, RI, Deirdre (Charles) Goodwin of Old Lyme, CT, James (Sharon) Fogarty of Mystic, CT, Mary Jane (Mark) Lyons of Chester, NJ, and Thomas (Jodi) Fogarty of Mechanicsburg, PA; and nine nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father, James M. Fogarty in 2001.

A kind, caring and generous soul, she will be deeply missed by her family, friends and precious dog, Sadie.

The family will receive friends on Friday, July 20, 2012 from 6-8p.m. at The Church of the Good Shepherd (Episcopal) in downtown Raleigh. Funeral services will be held at The Church of the Good Shepherd (Episcopal) on Saturday, July 21, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. with a reception following.
