Dolly House Fleming, of Raleigh, North Carolina passed away Monday, June 22, surrounded by an incredible amount of love. Her years were filled with joy and all that she held most dear – family, friends, and UNC basketball. She is predeceased by her father and brother, Ralph House and Bernie House of Pine Level. She is survived by her husband and their two children, her mother, Ethel Rogers House of Pine Level, and her sister, Twila Mitchell.
Dolly grew up working hard on her family farm in Johnston County. She married the love of her life, Howard Fleming, at Kerr Lake in 1980. In their 35 years together, they built a successful business, raised two children, and traveled the world. Her son, Robbie Fleming, lives in Raleigh with his wife, Colleen, and the world’s most beloved grandchildren, Morgan (5) and Natalie (almost 3). Her best friend and daughter, Carly Fleming, also lives in Raleigh and attends graduate school at NC State University.
Dolly was a devoted member of Hayes Barton Baptist Church, a lover of fresh-cut flowers, and a fiercely loyal friend to many. She has made a beautiful, meaningful impact on the lives of those that love her, and will be forever carried in our hearts. We have been deeply blessed to love and be loved by her.
A service in her honor will be held at Hayes Barton Baptist Church on Thursday, June 25 at 2 pm, followed by a reception for family and friends in the church fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers, gifts can be made to the Hayes Barton Baptist Memorial Garden Fund, 1800 Glenwood Ave. Raleigh, NC 27608.
