Doris Bulluck Page, 91, of Raleigh, passed away peacefully at home on December 2, 2025. Her daughter, Lisa, was by her side. She is survived by her son, Russell (Janice) Page of Wake Forest, NC; her daughter, Lisa (Larry) Dombrowski of Raleigh, NC and Dundee, IL; and her grandson, Ben Dombrowski, a college student in Minnesota. Doris was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Alfred Ezra Page, Jr.; her parents, Mancy and Nolie Bulluck; sister, Evelyn Stanley; and brother, Alton Bulluck. She was also preceded in death by her childhood pets: Bingo, the hairless dog, and Jitterbug, the goat, who was re-homed due to his excessive appetite for her father’s books and newspapers.
A first-generation college student, Doris earned her bachelor's and master's degrees from East Carolina University. While working in the soda shop, she met a young man who became a frequent customer — enjoying chicken salad sandwiches and sodas. Many chicken salad sandwiches later, she and Al got married and moved to Raleigh. Doris and Al were devoted parents, never missing a little league game or a painfully long dance recital. After retirement, they traveled extensively, visiting Europe, Hawaii, Australia and the Pacific Islands.
From a young age, Doris knew she wanted to be a teacher, and she spent 32 years educating hundreds of children in Wake County. One memorable day, a seemingly anti-Red-Rover student sprinted away from recess and scaled a tree. While Doris supervised the rest of the class, the principal coaxed down the rogue runner.
Doris loved to share stories about her childhood. One of her favorites was about Nanny, her grandmother. Nanny had 13 children, many grandchildren — and a Victrola. When Doris came to visit, Nanny would dance to the door and hug her like she was the only child in the world.
A service of remembrance will be held at Doris’ home this spring, when her beloved flowers are in bloom. Memorial contributions can be made to the Ronald McDonald House in Durham, the American Diabetes Association, or the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
