Dorothy Lewis Flythe

Dorothy Lewis Flythe, 94, passed away on Saturday, May 26, 2012. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wade C. Lewis and Irene H. Lewis; her brother, Wade C. Lewis, Jr., and her husband, of 70 years, Edwin E. Flythe.

She is survived by her son, Edwin E. Flythe, Jr. (Skip) and his wife, Agnes P. Flythe (Tootie); daughters, Brenda Gregory and Linda Roden; grandchildren, Edwin E. Flythe, III (Winn), Todd P. Flythe, Carolyn Seagroves, William M. Craven III, and Bradford L. Craven; great-grandchildren, Tyler Seagroves, Dylan Seagroves, and Faith Seagroves. Other surviving relatives are brother, Walter F. Lewis, Sr., and nephew, Walter F. Lewis, Jr.

She was born February 23, 1918 in Raleigh, N.C. She was active in many organizations including, Raleigh Jr. Women’s Club, Junior League of Raleigh, Community Group Homes of Raleigh, Inc., Raleigh Fine Arts Society and Hayes Barton United Methodist Church. “Dot” loved and was loved by her family and many friends.

The family would like to express their appreciation for the compassionate care provided by Dr. James Parsons and Hospice of Wake County. Love and heartfelt thanks is expressed to her caregiver and friend, Shirley Thorpe and her helpers, Tracey Thorpe, Latisha Thorpe and Lorraine Trader.

A reception will be held at Hayes Barton United Methodist Church Friday, June 1st from 12:30 pm-2:00 pm, followed by a memorial service at 2:00 pm at the church.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial may be made to Hospice of Wake County, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, N.C. 27607 or to Hayes Barton United Methodist Church; 2209 Fairview Rd. Raleigh, N.C. 27608-2240.
