One of nine children, Edna Johnson Wilson grew up on a small farm in Sampson County, NC in a close-knit family that pulled together and survived the Great Depression. Always frugal but eternally unselfish, Edna proudly and routinely clipped coupons throughout her life! A wonderful listener, she quietly lead by example, modeling the values of kindness, determination, and responsibility.
Edna is predeceased by her husband of 46 years, Howard Franklin Wilson. She leaves behind two devoted daughters, Janice Carmichael of Raleigh, and Sondra Wilson, of Greenville, SC; two grandsons who adored her, Chandler Carmichael of Raleigh and Brett Rollyson of Greenville, SC; her precious great-grandchildren, Britton and Elliott, many loving nephews, nieces, and neighbors whose attentiveness sparked and comforted her until the end.
Edna's family is deeply indebted to the many caring health professionals who enhanced her quality of life--the competent staff at Rex Hospital, the caring Heartland Hospice team, and Dr, Mark Yoffe--an extraordinary human being who always made her smile.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, July 31, 2017 at 11:00 a.m., Mitchell Funeral Home, 7209 Glenwood Ave. Raleigh, NC.
