Elaine Loyek, a dedicated mother, grandmother and teacher, passed away on March 15, 2026, at the age of 83. A longtime resident of Mahwah, New Jersey and East Dennis, Massachusetts, she spent her career as a business teacher at Suffern High School after graduating from Trenton State University.
In the classroom, she was known for her ability to connect with students and maintained many lifelong relationships with former students. She loved staying in touch and hearing how their lives evolved.
While she took great pride in her professional life, Elaine's greatest joy was her family. Of all the titles she held, "Yiayia" (grandmother) was her favorite. She was most proud of her grandsons, Will and Greg, who were the lights of her life. She was happiest when they were around and cherished the time she spent with them.
She is survived by her son, Scott Loyek and his wife Laura; her grandsons, Will and Greg; her sister, brothers, nieces, nephews, cousins and many close friends.
She was predeceased by her husband, William Loyek.
A celebration of her life will be held later this spring in New Jersey.
In lieu of flowers, it was her wish that donations be made to I Support The Girls (isupportthegirls.org). This charity was founded by a close family friend and supported by Elaine for many years.
