

Farrell joined the Arkansas National Guard while attending Perryville High School, he participated in the protecting the “Little Rock Nine” during the integration of Little Rock Central High school in 1957. He subsequently decided to go on active duty. After going to Officer Cadet School. He served two tours of duty in the Vietnam War, part of the MAC-V Advisor Core. He was rewarded two Bronze Star with “V” device, Purple Heart, Airborne badge, and the Infantry Badge. He furthered his career as ROTC instructor at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, LA. As well as a Commander of a Basic Training School. Farrell served his country with honor.
While stationed in USAD Captieux France, he met his wife, Geraldine “Didi” Marcelin. They were married August 18, 1962 in France. They spent the majority of their lives in Little Rock, Arkansas and raised four children together. After the Army Farrell worked as manufacturing manager in the folding box industry. He was a voracious reader of westerns and spy books and loved fishing.
Farrell is survived by his four children: Brenda Smith, Darrell McDaniel, Jeff McDaniel and Michael McDaniel; 5 grandchildren: Sarah Smith, Jeremy McDaniel, Tiffany McDaniel, Brandon McDaniel and Venancia Staggs; his siblings Carroll McDaniel and Donna Carella.
Farrell will be laid to rest, along with his late wife, Geraldine, in Nimrod Arkansas at a later date.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Farrell’s name to the Wounded Warriors Fund or any other veteran charities.
