Mrs Fiby Makar - A Legacy of Love, Faith, & Strength
Our beloved mother Mrs. Fiby Makar, walked peacefully into the arms of Christ Tuesday, January 20, 2026 at age 76. After a courageous battle with cancer, she reached the finish line of her earthly struggle with the same grace and faith that defined her entire life.
Throughout her illness, Fiby lived the truths found in Psalm 23. Though she walked through the valley of the shadow of death, she feared no evil, for she knew her Shepherd was with her. His rod and His staff comforted her through every treatment and every trial. Her family takes great comfort in knowing that her cup now overflows and she is finally dwelling in the house of the Lord forever.
Her final words were a testament to this lifelong devotion:"I want to leave and be with Jesus."
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Mr. Onsy Makar. A devoted wife, Fiby was the heart of her home. She was a good wife in every sense: A partner, a confidante, and a prayer warrior.
She is survived also by her two children: Vivian (and her husband George Gergues) and Joseph (and his wife Tania Salot ). Fiby led by example, teaching her children the value of kindness and the importance of a personal relationship with God and family. Her three grandchildren, Rachel Makar, Zachary and Joshua Gergues, were the light and purpose of her later years; she poured her love and wisdom into them, leaving a legacy that will last for generations.
Fiby came from a large, loving family and remained a pillar of strength for all around her throughout her life. She is preceded in death by her parents, Wassef and Folla Elsakr and her husband’s parents, Aziz and Senayah Makar and her brothers and sister in law, Dr. Moheb Shoukralla, Mr. Fawzy Makar, Mr. & Mrs. Ramses and Magda Makar.
