

Born in Laurens County, SC, he spent most of his life in Charlotte. Having lost his father at a young age, Floyd grew up in a loving, Christian family with his mother, aunt, uncle and cousin, Robert, along with his sister and brother. He lived throughout his life with Christian values and as a southern gentleman.
After graduating high school at Oakhurst, Floyd joined the US Navy during the Korean War era serving mostly aboard the USS O’Hare DD 889.
After his service, he enjoyed his accounting career with Cherry, Bekaert & Holland. Floyd liked reading, hiking in the mountains, traveling, the Prayer Breakfast at church, square dancing and attending O’Hare reunions. Floyd was a loving and caring person. He loved his family, his in-laws, church family, neighbors and friends, sports, his clients, and animals, especially dogs.
He was predeceased by his parents, sister, Mary Davis, brother, Bruce Sistrunk, brotherly cousin, Robert Cordell, aunt and uncle, Annie and Charles Cordell. He is survived by his wife, Katherine, his two nieces, Marcia (Jim) Craig, and Libby (David) Smith and their families.
A graveside service and burial will be held at Oakwood Cemetery in Raleigh.
