It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of George J Klein, a devoted husband, loving and proud father and pop pop, and cherished friend. George peacefully left this world on May 22, 2024 in Raleigh, NC.
Born in Bethlehem, PA, George was a hard-working and gentle soul who earned his PhD in chemical engineering, married the love of his life, Bonnie, and together they built a life filled with respect, adventure, kindness, and so much love for their four children that they raised together.
To most people, George was quiet, introverted, and a conscientious engineer. To his family and loved ones, he was also funny (always so proud of his dad jokes), ate peanut butter with a big spoon, never met a dog he didn’t like, and was always available for a hug.
George retired from Kodak in Rochester, NY after 26 years and then he and Bonnie moved to North Carolina a few years later. He enjoyed Tai Chi, daily walks, his morning coffee, reading sci-fi and fantasy books, traveling, and healthy eating in his retirement.
George’s legacy is carried on by his wife, Bonnie, and their four children - Maria, Michael (Jill), Melinda, Matthew (Kelly), and their six grandchildren - Duncan, Bryn, Kaelan, Max, Nathan, and Tyler.
In lieu of flowers, save some of that money, donate some of that money, and enjoy the rest, something George tried to instill in his children from a very young age - responsibility, generosity, and enjoyment of life.
We love you so much George, Dad, Pop Pop.
Arrangements by Brown-Wynne, 300 Saint Mary's Street, Raleigh.
