Grayson Harris Rehm, age 24, of Raleigh, NC, passed away peacefully on November 21, 2024. He was born on March 10, 2000 to Elizabeth ("Wren") Harris Rehm and Thomas Robert Rehm, Jr. at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C.
Grayson graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2022 from N.C. State with degrees in Business Finance and Human Biology. He was a fourth generation N.C. State graduate and a member of the Sigma Pi - Rho Chapter fraternity.
Currently a second year student on academic scholarship at Elon University School of Law, Grayson had a bountiful and expansive knowledge of the law, Latin, and specific areas of science. Learning was his natural pastime.
Grayson was an accomplished swimmer throughout his life. Although several of his records remain for certain events, he always encouraged younger swimmers by telling them that “records are made to be broken.” His love of sports included golf, hiking, fishing, Notre Dame football, Carolina Hurricanes hockey, and N.C. State basketball. As a result, he had an impressive collection of sports memorabilia.
Grayson loved cooking, especially family recipes, and always found the most intriguing shells at the beach where he loved swimming for hours in the ocean. Among Grayson’s favorite activities were family gatherings at his grandparents’ summer homes in Blowing Rock and Banner Elk, NC and visiting relatives in Michigan and Alabama.
Grayson most recently was a member of Holy Trinity Anglican Church, and his spiritual faith was an integral part of his life. He is predeceased by his sister, Sarah Elizabeth Rehm, his grandparents, Eida Swift Rehm and Thomas Robert Rehm, Sr., and his aunt, Olivia Annettte Rehm. Grayson is survived by his beloved parents, Wren and Robert Rehm, his aunt, Melissa Harris of Ann Arbor, Michigan, and his grandparents, Patsy Graham Hopfenberg and Dr. Harold B. Hopfenberg, and Dr. Susan Arrendell and Edwin ("Abie") Freeland Harris, Jr., many aunts, uncles, and cousins in North Carolina, Alabama, Georgia, and New York, and his canine “brothers” Cash and Barney Rehm.
Grayson and his closest friends were brothers in Christ and shared many wonderful times and travels over the years. One of his favorite verses was Titus 3: 3-7.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions in Grayson’s memory be made to the Michael Phelps Foundation, Legal Aid of North Carolina, Camp Seagull, or Holy Trinity Anglican Church.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, December 3, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, 100 E Peace St, Raleigh, NC 27604. A reception will take place at Carolina Country Club immediately following the service.
Brown-Wynne, 300 Saint Mary's Street, Raleigh, is serving the Rehm family.
