Irma Piedad Davila

Irma Piedad Davila of Raleigh, North Carolina, was welcomed into heaven on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at the age of 91. She was born in Manta, Ecuador, to Cristobal Ubillus and Alejandrina Barreiro, and lived a full and amazing life. From an early age, Irma helped care for her three younger sisters, Esperanza, Nancy, and Leyda, before becoming a volunteer at a grammar school, where she taught others to read and write; but certainly, had a mischievous side and occasionally snuck treats by hiding herself inside of a rainwater barrel. Later in life, Irma and her family moved to Guayaquil, Ecuador where she had the privilege to become a mom to her only daughter Marjorie. Years later, Irma and her family collectively relocated to New York City, where Irma worked for many years while still spending time with her daughter and family, and travel the world with Eduardo visiting landmarks such as Golgotha, the Pyramids of Egypt, the Dead Sea, and other special places. Irma retired shortly thereafter and remained in New York City until she relocated to North Carolina where she lived a full life alongside her daughter Marjorie and family until her recent passing.

She is survived by her daughter, Marjorie Barrionuevo (Angel); her grandchildren, Angelo Barrionuevo (Veronica) and Marjorie Roberts (Dan); her great-grandchildren, Nyah, Hayden, Scarlett, Cyan, Ethan, Aryia, and Aileen; her sisters Esperanza and Nancy; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members who were dear to her heart. She is preceded in death by her husband, Eduardo; her parents, Cristobal Ubillus and Alejandrina Barreiro; and her sister Leyda Ubillus Barreiro.

Irma enjoyed listening to music, reading and word search puzzles, while being surrounded by her daughter, two grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Irma was a very strong-willed lady with a kind heart who cared for others. She enjoyed sharing stories with her loved ones and had an unconditional love for her daughter Marjorie.

Devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, she will always be remembered for her love of family. She will be greatly missed, not only by her family but by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

The family would like to thank Heartland Hospice and the Rex Hospital Care Teams for the care and compassion they showed their loved one in her final days.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life at St. Raphael Catholic Church, 5801 Falls of Neuse Rd, Raleigh, NC 27609, on Friday, March 13, 2026, at 09:00 a.m. Visitation with the family will begin at 08:30 a.m.

Inurnment to follow at 1:00 p.m. at Raleigh Memorial Park, 7501 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh, NC 27612.

Irma Piedad Dávila fue bienvenida al cielo el Sábado 28 de Febrero del 2026, a la edad de 91 años. Nació en Manta, Ecuador, hija de Cristóbal Ubillus y Alejandrina Barreiro, y vivió una vida plena y maravillosa. Desde temprana edad, Irma ayudó a cuidar a sus tres hermanas menores, Esperanza, Nancy y Leyda. También, ella desde muy joven fue voluntaria en una escuela primaria, donde enseñó a otros a leer y escribir; pero ciertamente, tenía un lado travieso y ocasionalmente se escondía dentro de un barril de agua de lluvia para disfrutar de unas golosinas. Más tarde en su vida, Irma y su familia se mudaron a Guayaquil, Ecuador, donde se convirtió en madre de su única hija, Marjorie. Eventualmente, Irma y su familia se trasladaron a la ciudad de Nueva York, donde Irma trabajó durante muchos años y dedico tiempo para disfrutar momentos especiales con su hija y familia, y viajar por el mundo con su esposo Eduardo visitando lugares emblemáticos como el Gólgota, las Pirámides de Egipto, el Mar Muerto y otros lugares especiales. Irma se jubiló poco después y eventualmente se mudó a Carolina del Norte donde vivió una vida plena junto a su hija Marjorie y familia hasta su reciente fallecimiento.

Le sobreviven su hija, Marjorie Barrionuevo (Angel); sus nietos, Angelo Barrionuevo (Verónica) y Marjorie Roberts (Dan); sus bisnietos, Nyah, Hayden, Scarlett, Cyan, Ethan, Aryia y Aileen; sus hermanas Esperanza y Nancy; y muchos sobrinos, sobrinas y familiares extendidos que eran muy queridos por ella. La preceden en la muerte su esposo, Eduardo; sus padres, Cristóbal Ubillus y Alejandrina Barreiro; y su hermana Leyda Ubillus Barreiro.

Irma disfrutaba escuchar música, leer y resolver rompecabezas de palabras, mientras estaba rodeada de su hija, dos nietos y siete bisnietos. Irma era una mujer de gran fuerza de voluntad con un corazón amable que se preocupaba por los demás. Disfrutaba compartir historias con sus seres queridos y tenía un amor incondicional por su hija Marjorie.

Irma fue una gran esposa, madre, abuela, bisabuela y amiga, que siempre será recordada por su amor a la familia. Ella será muy extrañada, no solo por su familia sino por todos los que tuvieron el privilegio de conocerla.

La familia desea agradecer a Heartland Hospice y a los equipos de cuidado del Hospital Rex por la atención y compasión que mostraron a su ser querido en sus últimos días.

Se invita a familiares y amigos a asistir a una Celebración de su Vida en la Iglesia Católica St. Raphael, 5801 Falls of Neuse Rd, Raleigh, NC 27609, el Viernes 13 de Marzo del 2026, a las 09:00 a.m. La visita con la familia comenzará a las 08:30 a.m.

La sepultura será a la 1:00 de la tarde en el Raleigh Memorial Park, 7501 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh, NC 27612. La familia ha expresado que en lugar de flores, considere hacer una donación en su honor al Hospital de Niños de St. Jude.
