Jim was born on July 16, 1935, in Clifton Forge, VA to the late Nellie Gladys and John Paul DeVenny. He served in the Air Force, and then earned his Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Virginia, where he played on the baseball team. His entire career was with Western Electric (now Nokia). After retiring, he continued to work part-time as a school bus driver for many years. He greatly enjoyed working in his yard and woodworking in his shop. He was always willing to lend a hand to his neighbors and was a dachshund dad for several decades.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nancy DeVenny, in 2017.
He is survived by daughters, Lynne DeVenny (Allen) and Jean DeVenny; granddaughters, Kaitlin Smith (Ryan) and KeeCee DeVenny; brother, John DeVenny, and his beloved dachshund companion, Sunny.
