Janet was born February 9th, 1942, in Forty Fort, PA to George Tate (Teti) and Mary Ciambrone. She was the granddaughter of Ellis Island Italian immigrants Nicholas and Maria Piccoli Teti, and Angelo and Rose Ciambrone. Her father’s family settled in the Philadelphia area and her mother’s family went on to Niagara Falls. After her parents met and married, they settled in Phelps, NY, where her father opened up the first and only movie theater in town, The Phelps Theater. As a young girl, Janet would sneak all her friends into the movies. She graduated from Phelps Central School in 1960, and in the same year, married Harvey Eggleton and had 2 children. They were getting ready to celebrate 63 years together. Soon after getting married, Janet graduated from the Continental School of Beauty in Rochester, NY. She owned her own salon for many years and then went on to excel as a Cosmetology Teacher in the Boards of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES) of New York. After many years, she and her husband moved to Raleigh, NC to live closer to their daughter and her then new grandchildren, whom she was lovingly referred to as “Moppy”. Janet was an amazing cook and baker and often entertained all her family and friends over the years with lavish meals and epic Sunday dinners! She was an ardent lover of Christmas and went all out creating special holiday traditions with her grandchildren. Her homemade pizza was legendary. Her love of travel took her to Italy, Switzerland, Mexico, California, along with many cruises. She lived in Turkey for 2 years with her daughter and husband while he was on an employment project. Every role was lived to the fullest with the most love, generosity, and joy and she was a force to be reckoned with!
Janet is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Harv. She is also survived by her children, Julie Galens (Jim) of Raleigh, and Brad Eggleton, of West Palm Beach, Fl., granddaughter, Samantha Galens, grandson, Christian Galens, both of Raleigh, NC, Danielle Progno Lindner, of Kennett Square, PA, who was like a daughter to her, sister, Anita Pearce, of Wilson, NY, brothers-in-law, Gary and Dick Eggleton as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her mother and father, mother-in-law and father-in-law, Harvey and Ruth Eggleton, her best friend of almost 70 years, Dale Progno, and her husband John Progno, daughter-in-law, Joann Eggleton, sisters-in-law, Barb Clark and Evelyn Curry, brother-in-law, Barry Eggleton. Janet was an amazing daughter, aunt, granddaughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother who was deeply loved and cherished by her family. She created a legacy of extended famiglia and left us in the middle of a sea of love that she created. Her memory will forever be celebrated in our hearts.
