I remember October 22, 2013 as I was in a seminar conference that we had put on in my company for all of my customers that I had worked on getting there for months. 
All of my top customers were in a room listening to presentations from my company. 

I got a text on my phone that morning that Granny had passed away.

Maybe we all expected it, coming soon, but I did not expect it coming that day. 

I couldn’t make it through the rest of the day. 
And I quietly excused myself from the conference/seminar. 
With literally everybody asking me, what was the matter?  
Having to explain that my 96-year-old grandmother just passing away was a major deal in my Edwards family. 
Saying she was 96 years old didn’t seem to register with many of those people because they were like,..wow,..who lives to be that long. 

It took me over two hours to get home that day, because of distress.  

And that was on a Tuesday.   

And we all in Atlanta didn’t go to Raleigh until that weekend. 

Boy, do I miss Granny and Papa and the days at that house at 3312 Thomas Road.

I'm Jessie's nephew. I recall what a joyful, bubbly lady she was. My mother bragged to all about her talented baby sister, Jessie, and how she played the piano and sang so well. Exactly like her mother, Myra Mae Council Allen, aunt Jessie had 19 grandchildren, I noted. (See Council lineage-wwwbjhughes.org)

Trace, please accept my sincere condolences on the passing of your grandmother into glory.

I read the very touching obituary and I am joyful knowing that she knew Jesus, loved him and served him. I look forward to meeting her when I get to heaven.

“But when this perishable will have put on the imperishable, and this mortal will have put on immortality, then will come about the saying that is written, "DEATH IS SWALLOWED UP in victory. "O DEATH, WHERE IS YOUR VICTORY? O DEATH, WHERE IS YOUR STING?" 1 Cor 15:54-55.

I am Elder Rico Greenfield I am the Nephew of Ms.Jessie's Caregiver Mrs.Doris Darden I came to know Ms.Jessie 10 years ago when my Aunt became her live in Caregiver I came to love Ms Jessie as if she was my very own Grandmother every time you saw her she had a sweet smile on her face that I will miss but to her Children and especially her Grandchildren cherish the time you had with her Grandmother's are special in there own way As the Scriptures says Weeping May Endure for the Night but Joy comes in the Morning the entire Edwards family are in my Prayers. Our Heavenly Father has taken Home his good and faithful servant "Granny" Edwards.  What a magnificent Blessing this humble Christian matriarch has been to her husband, family, church, and community!  Although she will be greatly missed, let's all rejoice that she is now in His Presence reaping her just reward of Eternal Life. We will keep her family members in our hearts!
