Joan Carroll Vincent, 74, passed away peacefully on March 17th, 2016 in Raleigh, NC, after an extended battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was born on July 30, 1941 in Hartford, CT to Arthur Lees and Shirley Elizabeth (nee Stark).
Joan worked for many years with the Department of Defense before retiring to spend time with her family. She had a remarkable mind and creativity, and loved music, art, poetry, and especially books. Often she would get so lost in her reading we would have to steal books out of her hands to get her attention. Joan will always be remembered for her tender heart, and being a loving and dedicated wife, mom, gramma, and great-gramma.
She is survived by her children; son Steve Ackley, daughter Beth Carvahlo (husband, Noel), daughter Marcia Holliday (husband, Greg), and son Harold Jr. “Chip” Vincent (wife Rhonda). Joan is also survived by her five loving sisters who held a very special place in her heart, and will also be deeply missed by her multiple grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
She is being welcomed home to heaven by the love of her life for 47 years, husband Harold Sr., along with her beloved daughter Vicki.
Services will be held at a later date where she will be laid to rest with Harold. Memorial donations can be made to Transitions Life Care, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC, in memory of Joan.
