

He was born in Rochester, NY in January 1917, son of the late Salvatore and Leonarda Cordaro. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 60 years, Wilma E. Cordaro, and his five brothers and sisters. He is survived by his daughters and their husbands Lynn and Scott Brogan, and Nancy and Alan Lee, and grandchildren Brandon and Meredith Lee.
Joe worked for 44 years as draftsman, tool designer and supervisor for the Taylor Instrument Company, first in Rochester, NY and then in Arden, NC. Although he did not serve in the Armed Forces during World War II, his work contributed to the Manhattan Project. Joe enjoyed a long retirement, moving to Raleigh, NC with Wilma in 2005. He embodied the virtues of hard work, frugality, and dedication to his family.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at Hudson Memorial Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Tammy Lynn Center for Developmental Disabilities; or North Raleigh Ministries.
