She lived in Raleigh for many years and was big supporter of veterans and veteran organizations. She was a member of the Eastern Star, past President of American War Mothers, and various other Ladies Auxiliary groups. Kate was a strong supporter of UNC Children's Hospital and St. Jude Children's Hospital.
She is preceded in death by her two husbands, Elster Devlin and Jesse Hearn; her son, Charles Devlin; and numerous siblings.
She is survived by her two daughters, Shelia Devlin of Garner and Angel Chalk of Wake Forest; two grandsons, Rodeo Ray Devlin ( Renee) of Nevada, and Jesse Chalk of Wake Forest; and 2 great-grandchildren, Kathleen Devlin and Nathan Devlin of Nevada.
A visitation will be held Monday, October 2nd from 6-8 pm at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 300 Saint Mary's St., Raleigh. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, October 3 at 11am at Historic Oakwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made St. Jude Children's Hospital.
