Kay was a former Secretary and Vice-President of J.W. Weaver Company - Beauty and Barber Supply for over 20 years. After retiring, she enjoyed being a sales associate at Hecht’s at Crabtree Valley Mall. She enjoyed playing the piano, was an avid bridge player, extensive traveler in her youth and photographer. Most importantly, however, was Kay’s love of being a mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her sons: Daniel Upchurch, of Fuquay-Varina, David Upchurch and wife Sue, of Rougemont, and Jonathan Upchurch and wife Reyna, of Haw River; daughter: Amy Fales, of Huntersville; six grandchildren: Chase, Mark, Jeanna, Nathan, Ella and Elliott; by her brother: Robert Weaver and wife Julianne, of Raleigh; nephews: Josh and James Weaver and her aunt: Frances Weaver, of Raleigh.
Family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 24, 2010 from 1-2 PM at Mitchell Funeral Home (7209 Glenwood Avenue). Funeral Services will be held at 2 PM in the funeral home chapel, with interment to follow at Raleigh Memorial Park.
