Kenneth C. Goold, III passed away unexpectedly on November 26, 2024. He was the son of the late Major (USAF, Retired) Kenneth C. Goold, Jr. and the late Ruth Monson Goold. Kenny survived by a sister, Mary G. Wood of Raleigh, a niece, Caroline Wood (Brian Porter) of Raleigh, and a nephew, Clayton Wood of Raleigh as well as many friends who were as close as brothers. He was known as Kenny to those of us who knew and loved him.
Kenny was born at Mather AFB in Sacramento, CA. He attended schools in several states and countries prior to settling in NC. Kenny attended Broadway School in Broadway, NC and graduated from Lee Senior High School in Sanford, NC.
Kenny worked in Information Technology at Nortel Networks in RTP until it closed. More recently, he had been the owner of 2 SweepStakes businesses in Mebane, NC. He was retired for the last several years.
Kenny was a thrill seeker, adventurer and performer. He will be remembered as the “COOL” uncle, brother and son we loved so much. Kenny’s greatest thrills came at high speeds while racing his motorcycle at Virginia International Raceway; or when he would play lead guitar in a band of close friends while other friends and family would dance and sing along; or when he traveled to Nepal to climb the difficult (mountain) the second tallest mountain in the world.
A memorial service was held in the Chapel of Mitchell Funeral Home on February 8, 2025 at 2:00pm. It was a celebration of Kenny with the music he loved and we are encouraging friends and family to share stories of their experiences with Kenny.
