

Kevan was a seventh grader at Carroll Middle School. He attended Root Elementary and Brooks Elementary. While he was at Root, he worked as a computer technician. At Brooks, he sang in the chorus and was a carpenter in the 5th grade Opera, New Kid on the Block.
He was in AWANA at Crossroads Fellowship and also at Creedmoor Road Baptist Church. He was very active in his Sunday school class and also in Refinery and Refuge. He volunteered at With Love from Jesus.
Kevan loved animals, especially birds and dogs and the outdoors, often riding his bike or scooter on the greenway or Shelly Lake. He also went swimming and played outside with water guns. He loved to work with his hands.
He had looked forward to taking a Wheel Throwing class this month and also taking Wood Shop as an elective at Carroll. He loved to come up with ideas of all the inventions he would make and sell the products. He had planned to get a job when he turned 14 so he could get a credit card to purchase several items he wanted. He looked forward to getting his driver’s license.
He is survived by his parents: Mike and Beth, of Raleigh; grandmother, Sally Brim; of Pittsburgh, PA; grandmother, Sharon Carkeek, of Mars, PA; aunt and uncle, Darla and Frank Brim, of Arembepe, Brazil and their children Campbell, Caitlyn, Sofia and Stefan; aunt and uncle, Nikki and Joe Simoni, of Mars, PA and their children Reed, Kieran, Tessa and Callie; uncle, Jim Hill, deceased, and his children, Chris, Maddie and Drake, of Jeannette,PA; great-aunt and uncle, Doris and Ron Schomburger, of Glenshaw, PA; Great-aunt and uncle, Rose and Ed Shaeffer, of Vernon Hill, VA; great-aunt and uncle, Suzanne and Zeke Weakland of Butler,PA; and great-aunt Linda Smith of Palm Harbor, FL; great-aunt, Lillian Coughlan, of Palm Springs, FL.
Family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6-8 PM at Mitchell Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will be held at Providence Baptist Church on Friday at 4 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Providence Baptist Church Benevolence Fund - 6339 Glenwood Avenue - Raleigh, NC 27612.
