

He was born May 16, 1944 in Fulton County, PA to the late Cyrus H. Snyder and Margaret G. Snyder.
He graduated from Fort Hill High School in 1962 and Allegany College of Maryland. Attended Frostburg State University and the University of Maryland. As a teenager he worked as a caddy at the Cumberland Country Club. He served in the U.S. Army and later worked at Celanese at the Amecell Plant in Maryland and at Gillette Research in Gaithersburg, Maryland. He then moved to Raleigh, NC and worked at Cotton Incorporated for almost 35 years and was Associate Director of Technical Services. He loved his work and was very knowledgeable and enjoyed his travels to 38 countries.
He was a faithful Christian and deacon of Crabtree Valley Baptist Church. Before his illness, he assisted with the food pantry at church. Most of all, he was a beloved husband, and the best Dad in the world and for the past several years he loved being PaPa.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Iva Snyder; daughter Heather Steele and her husband Wayne; 2 sons, Aaron Snyder and Casey Snyder; sister Janice Feagles; and 2 grandchildren, Brittany and Bella Steele.
A visitation will be held at Crabtree Valley Baptist Church on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 from 1:00-2:00 PM with funeral service at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow in Brier Creek Memorial Gardens.
The family wishes to thank the healthcare providers at Rex Hospital and UNC Lineberger Cancer Center, especially Dr. Thomas Shea and his team. Flowers will be accepted or memorials to the UNC Lineberger Cancer Center.
