She was born on May 11, 1934 and was raised at the Kennedy Baptist Children’s Home in Kinston, NC, where she met her husband, Charles Albert Spellman, Sr and had been married for over 58 years.
She is survived by her son, Charles Albert “Bert” Spellman, Jr and wife Lori, and her daughter, Tammy Spellman, and her granddaughters, Liana and Caylin.
Lucy was predeceased by her parents, Carl J. Gibbs and Lillie Mae Little Gibbs, and her brothers, Carl and Cecil Gibbs and her sister, Thelma Gibbs Taylor.
The family will receive friends from 10:00am to 11:30am on Saturday, December 28 at Mitchell Funeral Home, 7209 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh, NC. The funeral service will be held at 11:30 at the funeral home. Graveside service will follow at Raleigh Memorial Park.
