Margaret Broughton Dale, 88, formerly of Raleigh, died Wednesday at her daughter’s home in Raeford after an extended illness. Mrs. Dale was born in Hertford, NC on December 18, 1922 to the late Harry T. and Julia Chalk Broughton.
Mrs. Dale was a graduate of East Carolina University. She taught school after graduating for several years. She and her late husband raised their family in Raleigh.
She was preceded in death not only by her parents, but also by her husband Hubert P. Dale, her brother Harry Broughton and sister Julia Rivet. Surviving are her daughter Julianne D. Ragsdale and husband Gordon of Raeford; three son’s Barry B. Dale and wife Lisa of Raleigh, George F. Dale of Raleigh and Clark W. Dale and wife Holt of Louisburg; brother Howard Broughton and wife Pete of Southern Pines; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Private graveside services will be held Saturday at Raleigh Memorial Park.
