

She was born April 7, 1916 in Mt. Olive, North Carolina to the late James Owen Stanton and Clara Davis Stanton. Margaret grew up in Goldsboro and Raleigh, and graduated in the first graduating class from Broughton High School, in Raleigh, in 1934.
She touched many lives with her varied talents and abilities; from Nursing school, her Art work and businesses of Real Estate and Retail, to Interior Designing, working with the Girl Scouts, the Woman’s Club of Raleigh, the Eastern Star and the PTA of Raleigh and Wake County. She was also an avid Wolf Pack Supporter!
Margaret is predeceased by her loving husband of 65 years James (Jimmy) Spencer Fulghum, Jr.; her Parents; two brothers and two sisters. She is survived by her children, The Rev. Peggy Matthews (Sam) of Winston-Salem, NC; Mary Anne Summer-Clovis of Columbia, SC; Dr. James S. Fulghum, III (Dr. Mary Susan) of Raleigh, NC; and Ruth Olive (Mike) of Fuquay-Varina, NC; Grandchildren, Libbie Hough, Pam Saunders, Dr. Michael Summer, Drew Summer, Molly Heitz, Emily Roberson, Aaron Olive and Jameson Olive; and seven Great Grandchildren and One Great-Great Grandson.
A service for the Worship of God and Witness of the Resurrection will take place on Wednesday May 21, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM prior to the service at Mitchell Funeral Home 7209 Glenwood Ave. Raleigh, NC. A private entombment will take place at a later time at Raleigh Memorial Park.
