Margaret was born in Raleigh on September 21st, 1938, to the late Margaret Elizabeth Russell and John Fletcher Russell. Margaret attended Broughton High School and graduated in 1956. Margaret began her career working at Manpower Temporary Services. In the 1970s, Margaret and her husband Nelson started their own business, Service Engineering Company. Margaret was instrumental in the start-up and success of their business, taking pride in its growth.
Margaret was well-liked by everyone who knew her and had a positive, uplifting presence. She was optimistic, cheerful, upbeat, and encouraging. Margaret had many dogs and cats over the years and devoted much time to their care. She took a special interest in the feral cats who lived outside her office building and nurtured them back to health.
Margaret is survived by her daughters, Tracey Nycek (Mark) of Raleigh, and Terri Hinton of Raleigh.
In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Nelson, and brothers Donald and John Russell.

A visitation for Margaret will be held Monday, July 7, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Mitchell Funeral Home at Raleigh Memorial Park, 7209 Glenwood Ave, Raleigh, NC 27612. Burial will be private in Oakwood Cemetery.
