Marilyn Lyn Millard Harper

Lyn was married to Robert (Bob) S. Harper, a psychology professor at Knox College, Galesburg, IL, for 52 years. For 38 years, she was a Knox College faculty wife, a radio personality, and a librarian. Retiring to Charleston, SC, in 1987, she became a docent for the Historic Charleston Foundation and Middleton Foundation for 18 years. In Raleigh, she was an active member and volunteer for Greystone Baptist Church as well as the Springmoor Retirement Community serving on the Endowment Committee along with other volunteer positions.

She is survived by her daughters Ann Harper of Chicago and Elizabeth Harper Allen of Raleigh, NC, son-in-law Chris Allen, grandchildren, Kate Madison and husband Rick Madison, Brent Harper-Murray, and Bobby Allen, and great grandchildren Leah Rose and Robert Tyler Madison.

The visitation will be on Sunday November 20 at Mitchell Funeral Home, 7209 Glenwood Ave., Raleigh NC from 3:30 – 5:00 pm. The memorial service will be held on Monday November 21 at 4:00 pm in the Springmoor Auditorium, 1500 Sawmill Road, Raleigh NC 27615.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be given to either, Greystone Baptist Church or Springmoor Endowment Fund, in her memory.
