Mary Alice Riddle Brown

She was raised by loving parents, George and Katherine Riddle in the Oakwood neighborhood of Raleigh, NC. She resided in Garner for the past 58 years. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lester Brown; sisters Katherine Tharp and Dorothy Womble; brothers George Riddle, Jr. and Richard Riddle. She is survived by her sister, Betsy Dowd, sons Jimmy, Charlie and David Brown; grandchildren, Jason, Connor, Kevin and Cory.

Mary was a woman who loved life and learning. She attended Meredith College, was a member of First Baptist Church on St. Mary's St. in Garner. Throughout her life she has always enjoyed activities such as bird watching, crocheting, painting, cooking, reading and her favorite card game of bridge. Mary had an infectious laugh and looked for the brighter side in most any situation.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00pm on Sunday August 25, 2013 at Brown Wynne Funeral Home, 300 St. Mary's Street, Raleigh. The funeral service will follow immediately at 2:00pm. Graveside service at Raleigh Memorial Park. Memorial donations may be made to the Garner Senior Center, in memory of Mary.
