Stephanie and Bill III, our thoughts are with you and your family at this difficult time.  Your mother was a wonderful person and dear friend of mine. We will all miss her dearly.

Mary was a valued member of the Raleigh Rotary Club, now celebrating its Centennial Year. She was a gracious host to Hannes Kalberlah, a German HighSchool Exchange student in the late nineties when few others volunteered to host. She left an indelible impression on him and me in sharing her house and her extrovert spirit.

The  News and Observer mentioned Mary's work with Public Art.  I estimate that I have driven past the Time + Light Tower at least 5000 times.  It has looked different each time depending on the time of the day and year.  In a city like Raleigh where the citizens spend huge amounts of time in a car, this piece of public art has been a gift.  Thanks so much, Mary, for your brilliant vision and your courage.

As a classmate of Mary Watson Nooe, I was always glad to have seen her active days in college were not just a youthful thing. She lived for others and we can all admire that. Raleigh has lost one of her strongest women.

Stephanie & Bill "3", I know you do not remeber me. We lived on North Hills Drive in Raleigh and had many play dates. My heart goes out to both of you and the family. May you have long-lasting memories.

Ann and Carolyn:  I was sorry to hear about Mary Watson.  Know that our thoughts are with you and your families.

Mary Watson Nooe had perhaps the biggest heart of any politician I have known.  Her contributions to Raleigh are many, but she will be remembered most for her understanding of the needs and aspirations of disabled, sick, aging, and disadvantaged persons, and she was their champion.

Rest in Peace my friend. Your work has spoken for you.
