

Michael Kokos, 51, of Raleigh, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday August 16, 2014. Born in Cleveland, OH to Dennis and Mary Ann Kokos, he lived in Ohio for 20 years before moving to North Carolina where he lived for 31 years. Michael attended NC State University in Raleigh where he graduated Summa Cum Laude in 1990.
Michael was a caring and thoughtful man who always took time to help others. His love of nature and the outdoors included hiking, fishing, and biking, as well as an interest in plants and wildlife. In his spare time he enjoyed working on cars, watching football, cooking, and spending time with loved ones. Michael was a life-long learner who was passionate about researching a variety of subjects and sharing ideas with others. He liked to look on the bright side and to make people laugh.
Michael is survived by his daughters, Rachel Kokos and Jessica Kokos, of Raleigh. He is also survived by his parents Dennis and Mary Ann Kokos of Holly Springs; his brother Denny Kokos of Fuquay-Varina; his brother Chris Kokos and his family of Apex; his sister Connie McAnulty and her family of Holly Springs; his sister Linda Harrill and her family of Fuquay-Varina; as well as aunts, uncles, cousins and other friends.
The family will receive visitors on Thursday August 21, 2014 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the Mitchell Funeral Home at 7209 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh, NC 27612. A funeral mass celebrating Michael’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday August 22, 2014. The mass will be held in the St. Mary of the Angels Chapel at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church at 11401 Leesville Road, Raleigh, NC 27613.
