

Mishew Cooper Williams Paynter, 66, a native of Raleigh, North Carolina died unexpectedly on Saturday, January 11, 2025. She was born April 30, 1958, in Chapel Hill, N.C. to the late Mishew McNeill Cooper Williams and Thomas Murray Williams, who survives her.
Mishew was a graduate of Ravenscroft School and Salem College. She had a way with children as she was a Special Education teacher for many years. Anyone that knew Mishew, knew her kind, caring and generous spirit. After her retirement, Mishew fell into the world of needlepoint. So much so, that she started working at the Needlepoint Shop in Raleigh where her customers adored her. She was a member of the Junior League of Raleigh and the Colonial Dames. She loved spending time at Atlantic Beach and with her beloved dogs Riley and Harper.
She had a life filled with an abundance of blessings. Her most cherished blessings were her husband, Bill and her children Will and Jack. She was incredibly proud of the men they have become and were truly the joy of her life.
In addition to her mother, Mishew was preceded in death by her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Marshall Young Cooper and Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Williams.
Mishew is survived by her husband of 31 years, Bill, and her sons, William Marshall Paynter and John Thomas Paynter. Family was very important to her, as both of her boys carry family names. In addition to her father, she is survived by her sister, Elizabeth Cross Williams Martin and her husband John Gillespie Martin of Lookout Mountain, Tennessee and her brother, Thomas Murray Williams, Jr. and his wife Kathryn Bilbro Williams of Raleigh, North Carolina. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Sunday, January 19, 2025, 4:00 pm - 6:30 pm at The Carolina Country Club, 2500 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh, N.C. Burial will be private at Historic Oakwood Cemetery.
