Murray Franklin Strong, Jr., age 57, of Archer Lodge, North Carolina passed away on Monday, August 1, 2022. Murray is survived by his wife, Brenda, whom he met in 1992, declaring to his mother immediately after meeting her, “I’m going to marry that girl”.
In addition to his wife, he is also survived by three children, Heather Griffin, Colleen Strong and Daniel Strong; granddaughters, Natalie and Aria; dogs, Boss and Milo; and a very large extended family that adored him.
Born in Oakland County, Michigan, Murray moved to NC at the age of 7 where he quickly became a true Southerner by the grace of God, devoted to family, friends and THE flags -American and NASCAR. Murray spent his life building things. He started his career building homes before transitioning to commercial steel framing and drywall. For the last 25 years, Murray subcontracted and was employed with American Drywall. During this time, Murray formed a special friendship with Steven Matthews. While building structures that will stand the test of time, he also built a life filled with family, friends, love and laughter. This will be his greatest legacy.
Murray lived up to his name, STRONG, in every way. He mentored many people during his life besides his children. Many of his nephews started their careers working for him. Always there to listen, support and encourage. Believing the best in everyone, but quick to call you out if needed. Being the life of the party came naturally to Murray, he never met a stranger. His infectious smile and quick wit immediately made others feel at ease. He always made you feel like the most important person in the room. When not going to, or watching races, Murray loved to go camping and fishing, spending time around the fire pit, and playing ‘princess’ with his grandbabies. He will be dearly missed, and forever in our hearts.
