

A native of Roanoke, VA, Dolores, as she was known by her family and many friends, graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute with a degree in Nutrition and Dietetics. She also met her future husband Daniel Moncol there as well. They moved to Raleigh, NC in 1961, and she worked in the Food Science Department at North Carolina State University for over a decade. She was known for her love of Square dancing and traveling.
She is predeceased by her parents, Romer Wanless Darnell and Mary Maude Frances Ragland Darnell. She is also predeceased by her brother Romer Wanless Darnell, Jr.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Dr. Daniel J. Moncol. She is also survived by her children and their spouses: Kenneth N. Moncol and wife Deborah of Archer Lodge, NC, Daniel J. Moncol, Jr. and wife Marilyn of Cary, NC, Lauren Moncol King and her husband Larry of Orlando, FL. David L. Moncol and wife Katherine of Raleigh, NC. She is also survived by her sister Mary Jane Darnell Reid and husband Frank of Salisbury, NC. She is also survived by eight grandchildren.
The memorial service will be held Tuesday, September 4th, at 11 am at Hayes Barton United Methodist Church, 2209 Fairview Road, Raleigh, NC 27608. The family will receive friends on hour prior to services. Burial of ashes will occur at a later date in Roanoke, VA.
