

Peggy O. Howe, 86, of Raleigh died Sunday, December 14, 2014. She was born and grew up in Fairfield Alabama, and was the daughter of the late Harry E. and Era Box O'Neill. Peggy was a graduate of the University of Alabama, and she married Theodore T. Howe in 1952. In 1966, they moved to Raleigh. For a brief time early in her career she was a feature writer with the Raleigh Times, and for over 30 years she was a writer with the NC Dept. of Cultural Resources. Peggy was a long time member of Highland United Methodist Church, and an active member of both the Raleigh Power Squadron and the Civil Air Patrol.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore T. Howe, and a brother and a sister.
Surviving are her two sons, Stephen Tyler Howe of Florida, and Edward O. Howe and his wife Mickey C. Howe of Raleigh. She is also survived by a granddaughter, Sara Katherine Howe and her daughter, (Peggy's great-granddaughter), Carmen Jackson, both of Chapel Hill.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, December 17, 2014 from 6-8pm at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 300 Saint Mary's St., Raleigh. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, December 18, 2014 at 11am at Oakwood Cemetery, 701 Oakwood Ave., Raleigh.
