Priscilla was born on December 9, 1932, in Passaic, NJ, the cherished daughter of William and Priscilla Hargreaves. Her early childhood was spent in Wyckoff, NJ, before her family moved to Jenkintown, PA, where she spent her teenage and young adult years. It was in Jenkintown that Priscilla truly embraced life with an adventurous spirit. She worked at Sun Oil Company in NYC, while exploring her passions: travel, painting, and singing. In 1964, a fateful trip to Newport News, VA, led her to John, her "knight in shining armor" in his navy whites. They married in 1966 and embarked on an unforgettable three-year honeymoon in Hawaii while John was stationed in Oahu.
Motherhood became her true calling in 1968 with the birth of their first son John, and the family moved to Downers Grove, IL. They then welcomed Jamie in 1971 before relocating to Rockville, MD in 1974, their long-term home. Priscilla continued to explore her passions with amazing trips around the world, including cherished annual visits to Williamsburg, St. Thomas and Bermuda, where she enjoyed banana daiquiris and rum swizzles. She continued to find ways to express her artistic side, seen in the sports banners she created, banquet centerpieces she designed, teaching arts and crafts at the elementary school, and the loving touches she added to the family sailboat and homes.
Summers in Ocean City, NJ, held a special place in her heart. Those days—riding bikes, eating donuts, relaxing on the beach, and strolling the boardwalk—were pure joy, creating enduring family memories.
Her most treasured role was "Nana" to Harrison, Annie, and Griffin. Their growth and passions were the light of her life and she loved every opportunity to spend time together. After moving to Durham/Cary, NC, Priscilla was often found cheering on her grandchildren at their activities and sports events, always making time for a good meal out and exploring North Carolina's beauty. She was a fighter surviving multiple cancer diagnoses, surgeries and other health issues, always maintaining a great sense of humor and positive attitude and was blessed to remain very healthy, sharp and active throughout her life.
Priscilla is preceded in death by her parents, William and Priscilla Ann Hargreaves, and her brother, John Hargreaves. She will be profoundly missed by her loving husband of 59 years, John Eberhart Baublitz. She was a devoted mother to John Hargreaves Baublitz and his wife Tiffany, and James Christopher Baublitz and his wife Hannah. Her spirit lives on in her adored grandchildren, Harrison, Griffin, and Anne (Annie).
