It was with much sadness that Bonnie and I heard of Rick's passing and our deepest sympathies go out to you and your daughters. As one of my best friends (and best man in our wedding) we have only great memories of Rick. I'll never forget the great times we had together, especially on the trip we took out West with Steve Cunningham and Dan Mundinger the summer after high school graduation. I often think of that trip. Rick was a great guy and we can tell from the pictures and thoughts we've read that he was much loved by many. It was good to hear and read of the great things he accomplished during his life and the impact that he had on so many. Our prayers are with you, Cindy, and with your daughters. We are praying that you will feel and know the peace and comfort that only God can give.

I was so very sorry to hear about Rick's passing after this very long fight of cancer. My thoughts and prayers will be with Rick's family during this difficult time. I was so sorry to hear of cousin Rick's passing.  He was always one of my mother Janet Haan's favorite nephews.  Although I haven't seen him in many years, I remember him as a kind, warm and loving man who adored his family.  I know he will be deeply missed. Rick was a patient and intelligent man, with an endearing good humor.  The world could use more men like him.  We are all saddened at his passing.

I knew Rick for years before I knew anything about his battle with cancer - he never spoke of it.  He was not defined by his condition. Rather, he was a kind and peaceful man who worked hard to help others, to help develop medicines to improve the quality of life.

Cindy, it was with great sadness that I learned last night of Rick's passing. Although it has been many years since I've seen either of you, I have always considered Rick one of my all time closest friends. Part of my sadness today comes from my lack of initiative in keeping better contact with Rick over the many years since high school. I can not think about Rick without a deep smile creeping across my face. We discovered life together. One of my favorite memories is of Rick and myself sitting on a cliff in the Rockies on our trip after high school. We sat and reminisced about our years in school, how fast life was going by and what the future might bring. Looking at the photos of Rick and your family in the photo gallery, I see that those years were rich with love and experiences. I am so glad for that. May God comfort you and your girls at this time.

Thoughts and prayers are with you and the girls Cindy! Many great memories came flooding back. We had a great childhood together. He was a great guy!

Rick and I have shared an office wall for several years at GSK.  I am so thankful that this geographical proximity gave me the opportunity to know such a caring and thoughtful person.  Rick and I shared many moments discussing our pride and thankfulness for the fine daughters we were both blessed to parent.  I have no doubt that the world has been left a better place for having been graced with his presence.

I learned to know Rick a couple of years ago at a meeting between Amcor and GSK. He was an extremely nice guy to cooperate with and I'll remember him as a highly professional with a good sense for humor and pragmatism. I wish his family and friends all the best.

So sad to hear of Rick's passing. I have nothing of fond memories of Rick. He was always kind to others and respected by everyone that knew him. I'm not surprised by the many great things he did in his life to help others. I remember his big interceptions in a couple of our football games that helped lead us to an undefeated football season that year. Cindy, you and your family have my deepest sympathy.

I had the good fortune to exchange thoughts and ideas with Rick not only on a professional level but also on an artistic one.  We shared a stage together a couple of times.  I so much enjoyed his poignant guitar playing.  Whenever I listen to classical guitar, it will have extra meaning.  Be at peace now Rick.  You have left this mortal world but the kindness of your spirit will endure and inspire.
