Rich was born on January 2, 1962 in Queens, NY and grew up on Long Island, NY. He earned an associate’s degree from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University (Daytona Beach, FL). He worked for many years in the printing and packaging industry and was most recently employed at Product Identification Inc. (Durham, NC). He called Raleigh home for the past 35 years.
Rich was a kind and gentle soul who could always be counted on for his warm hellos, quick wit, and long stories. He loved watching and talking about all types of sports. He had deep faith in Christ and was actively involved in Calvary Presbyterian Church in Raleigh where over the years he served as a greeter, custodian, deacon, and mission trip member.
Rich is preceded in death by his parents John and Theresa J. Kiernan. He is survived by his brothers John Kiernan Jr. and Lou Kiernan (Kim) of Knoxville, TN; sister, Theresa (Terry) Kiernan of Boston, MA; and nephews, Sean Kiernan (Brooke Carter), Craig Kiernan (Nirali Dixit), and Brian Kiernan of Knoxville, TN.
A memorial service will be held for Rich on January 10 at 2 pm ET at Calvary Presbyterian Church (6520 Ray Road, Raleigh, NC 27613).
