Rodney Charles Fitzgerald

Rodney Charles Fitzgerald, 47, passed away on March 6, 2011 after many years battling heart problems. Born on September 22, 1963 in Goldsboro, NC; he was the son of the late Wilbert Fitzgerald, Jr. and Lula B. Fitzgerald Little and husband Billy Little, of Kenly, NC and grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Berry and Mr. and Mrs. Wilbert Fitzgerald, Sr. He graduated from Barton College and had completed continuing courses in computer science at NC State.

Rodney was an IT Systems Administrator most recently with Coty, Inc. in Sanford. He had previously worked with the National Institute of Health, STOCK Building Supply and Misys Healthcare. He was an active member of Knightdale United Methodist Church, especially within the prison ministry KAIROS. He was a NC State sports fan, including football and basketball; enjoyed cars, genealogy, history and the family cottage in Janeiro, NC. Rodney truly loved being with his family and his faithful companion “Indigo”.

He is survived by his loving wife of 9 years: Kathy Workman Fitzgerald and by his mother and step-father. His memory will also be treasured by his aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, and half-brothers and sisters.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening, March 8th from 7-9 at Holly Springs Free Will Baptist Church (80 Beulahtown Road - Kenly, NC). Funeral Services will be held at the church on Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at 2 PM, with interment to follow at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Princeton.
