Roger William (Bill) Caudill, Jr. was born in Goldsboro, North Carolina on August 6, 1958, to Roger W Caudill, Sr. and Neta Ellis Caudill. Bill passed away on September 23, 2025, at Rex Hospital in Raleigh, NC, after a five-year battle with Cancer and a thirteen-year battle with heart valve replacement. He fought to keep life normal, but it became very difficult in the last 8 months.
Bill is survived by his parents, his sister Kay West, Nephews Matt (Irina) West and Zack West. He is also survived by his partner and best friend, Janet Nichols along with their four cats Creamsicle (Stumpy), Mae Mae, Zebby, and PeeWee which are all rescues. Many Caudill and Ellis cousins, his Elks Family and long time friends also survive.
Bill retired from Nortel Networks after 32 years and currently remained an employee of Liggett Vector Brands now known as JTI, until his death. He was so thankful for their support during his illness.
A member of Hillyer Memorial Christian Church since his youth, Bill attended church with his family as faithfully as he could. Bill joined the Raleigh Elks Lodge #735 where he enjoyed fellowship and made many friends. His interests in life were planes, trains and automobiles. He had rather be outdoors finding arrowheads on the farm in Johnston County or with a fishing pole on Lake Benson, a creek in the mountains or a pier on the coast. He loved birds and could tell you what kind of bird it was just by description or standing on the ground and watching them fly. A quiet man with a quick wit and his iconic “Eeyore” delivery always made life lighter even in the darkest times. He never lost that ability.
May you always and forever cherish his memory when you see a stray or admire the wildlife and nature. When you hear a train whistle or hear the rumble of an airplane, smile and know that he would be standing next to you telling you what type of plane it was or where the train was headed. And for “Pete’s sake, keep your car clean”!!
In lieu of flowers, his family asks for donations to be made to the following charities. The V Foundation for Cancer Research, 14600 Weston Parkway, Cary, NC 27513. Saving Grace Animal Rescue, PO Box 1649, Wake Forest, NC 27588.
