

Stanley was a combat veteran of the U.S. Army National Guard serving as a technical sergeant with Company B 102nd Engineers. He was in the Pacific Theatre during World War II for three of his 8 years of service. He received an honorable discharge at the end of the war, returned to civilian life and worked for 35 years as a tool and die manufacturer.
Stanley enjoyed constructing model railroad train layouts. He was also accomplished in wood working, building scale model buildings and creating many other original designs. Stanley enjoyed being outdoors caring for the garden and tending to the green spaces.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Mabel Webster Groditski; his daughters, Irene Schiavone and husband Randy, of Middletown, Delaware, Millie Persson and husband Walter, of Southold, Long Island, NY; his step-sons, Wayne Webster and wife Irene, of Leland, NC, Warren Webster and wife Mary, of Chocowinity, NC, and Steven Webster, of Beaver, PA; and his step-daughters, Janet Mahoney and husband JT, of Raleigh, NC and Barbara Extein and husband Ken, of Erie, PA.
He will be deeply missed by his grandchildren, Christine (Jim), Deborah, Andrew (Caroline), Jared, Brian, Zo (Steve), Meredith (Mike), Kyle (Sonja), Collin (Michelle), Randy, Todd (Jen), Travis, and Julie (Tracy); and by his great-grandchildren, James, Trystian, Jordan, Paul, Dylan, Derek, Hermione, Wolfgang, Caelan, Matthew, Spencer, Rhett, Brendan, and Erynn.
Stanley was preceded in death by his parents, his two brothers, Henry and Walter Groditski, his first wife, Teresa Groditski and his grandson, Russell Persson.
The family will receive friends and family on Wednesday, January 2, from 6:00-8:00 pm at Mitchell Funeral Home, 7209 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh NC 27612. The Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, January 3 at 11:00 am, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 2718 Overbrook Drive, Raleigh 27608. Graveside services with Military Honors will follow at Raleigh Memorial Park, 7501 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh, NC 27612.
