The beloved son of Pearl Gwendoline Walker (née Spicer) and Stanley Edward Walker, Stanley was also deeply loved by his stepmother, Pearl, who played a nurturing and devoted role in his life from the time he was 15. He lived a life marked by devotion to family, quiet strength, and honorable service. He proudly served in the United States Air Force, a chapter of his life that exemplified his commitment to duty, discipline, and country.
Stanley is survived by his loving wife, Sookia Walker; his daughter, Rise Suazo, and his grandchildren, Aryana and Aiden; and his stepdaughters, Malini Singh McDonald and Indira Singh. He was a proud and loving father-in-law to Ian McDonald and the former father-in-law of Adrian Suazo, and cherished the bonds they shared. He was predeceased by his son, Jason Walker. He is also remembered by Joyce Williams, the mother of his children, Rise and Jason.
He leaves behind a large and loving family, including his siblings: Robert “Bobby” Walker, Peggy Reimchen (née Walker), Judy Meikle (née Walker), and Joan Faraldi (née Walker). He is also lovingly remembered by his half-sisters Nancy and Maia. He is preceded in death by his sister Angela “Ann” Heather Masters (née Walker) and half-sister Millie.
Stanley was a quiet presence, steady, thoughtful, and observant, but he also knew how to enjoy life. With a quick wit and a twinkle in his eye, he could light up a room when the moment called for it. Though he carried himself with quiet strength, those who knew him well saw his lighter side: a warm sense of humor, a love of good company, and a genuine appreciation for life’s simple joys - especially his weekend rum and Coke, underscored by his nostalgic love of music.
He will be remembered for his deep integrity, sharp mind, and unwavering love for those he held dear. His legacy of grace, resilience, and kindness lives on in all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A memorial service for Stanley will be held Sunday, July 27, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Mitchell Funeral Home at Raleigh Memorial Park, 7209 Glenwood Ave, Raleigh, NC 27612, followed by a visitation from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society (ACS) and the Wounded Warrior Project.
