Susan was born November 7, 1950, in Erie, PA to the late Mary Jane Wilkinson and Thomas Maloney. Her family relocated to Syracuse, NY, when Susan was four years old, where she attended Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School, graduating from Corcoran High School. She was the second of four daughters, Sharon, Bridget and Molly. Susan worked for many years in child care, eventually returning to school, attending Onondaga Community College, graduating with a degree in Medical Coding. She was employed at Upstate Medical Center for many years as a Cancer Tumor Registrar. In 1998, she relocated to Raleigh, NC, and was employed with UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill in the same capacity for 20 years. Susan then became self employed, helping many facilities remotely, eventually retiring from Yale Medical Center.
Susan enjoyed reading and cooking, traveling, and British television. But her main passion was her family, especially her grandchildren. She was always cooking for family gathering and holidays. Her family gave her a gift of all her recipes in one cookbook, of which is being debated on who will receive it. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Syracuse, and St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Raleigh, where she forged lifelong friendships. Susan will be remembered for her quick wit and sense of humor. She brightened up any room she entered, and all who knew her looked forward to visiting with Susan.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Edmond Brossoie; children, Paul Brossoie of Raleigh, David Brossoie, and his wife, Fern, of Holly Springs, Danielle Brossoie of Raleigh, NC; grandchildren, Isabelle, Torrey, Archer; sister, Molly Maloney, of San Francisco, CA; and her nephew, Michael.
In addition to her parents, Susan was preceded in death by her sisters, Sharon and Bridget.
A Liturgy of the Word was offered on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at 11:00am in the Chapel of Mitchell Funeral Home.
