

Fondly known as Kunjumon, he was born on December 24, 1937, in Perissery, Kerala India. He was from the Thakadiyil family, his parents were Mariamma Joseph and T. V. Mathen.
He was married to the late Annamma V. Mathew for over 55 years. He is survived by his two sons, Anil and Vinod, and their wives, Deepa and Viji; four grandchildren, Andrew, Daniel, Ashley and Michael; three brothers, T. M. Varkey of Syracuse, NY, T. M. Joseph of Bangalore, India, and T. M. John of Piscataway, NJ.
Wherever he travelled he made many friends. His early childhood was growing up in a rubber estate in Yeroor, near Anchal in Quilon district. His life experience and work brought him from Pennukkara to many places including Andamans, Chennai, Vellore, New York City, Englewood, NJ, Nanuet, NY, Delaware and Raleigh. He spent most of his career as an Administrative Officer at Columbia University Medical School in New York City. He was very proud of his long 30 years of service there at the University. He loved his family and friends and never hesitated to help those in need. He enjoyed listening to music and had a keen interest in photography. He will always be known for his kindness. His faith in God was an inspiration to all. He will be greatly missed by all who know him.
A Funeral Service for Thakadiyil will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2025 at 9:45am at the NC Mar Thoma Church, 2773 Milburnie Road, Raleigh. Burial will follow in Raleigh Memorial Park. The family will receive visitors at the church, beginning at 8:00 am.
