I met Tom many years ago when I took my granddaughters to Disney World. He didn’t know us but he treated us with such that we felt safe and had a wonderful time. I will be thinking  of you and praying for moments of peace and comfort as you remember Tom who made such a difference in so many lives.

It’s so important to give people their physical flowers as well as words of love and admiration while they’re with us. We were blessed to celebrate Tom’s 75th birthday last February. Only God knows the hour of our departure from this life into the next. So grateful God placed it on our hearts to honor/celebrate Tom while we had the opportunity.

Sending sympathy to the entire family. Such a nice person who treated me like family. His love of UTZ potato chips and my love for Disney connected us. My family share in your loss and rejoice that Tom is at peace.

       Thank You for the YEARS & childhood memories. I’ll never forget the times we piled into the van, stopped in NC to carpool with my cousins, and proceed down to Orlando where you rolled out the Disney Experience for us! Inadvertently Sir you planted a seed that has sprouted abroad several branches of my life. I’m so grateful when you played the guitar at one of my shows; it’s was the manifestation of a seed you’d planted. The look on your face PRICELESS! 

     Thank You for the Years, the Memories, the Affirmations, and the way you would wrap up our conversations with encouragement, I Thank You,  and I will see you later….

Thomas was truly the most kind man with such a big heart. I loved him so much and am so happy to have had him in my life as long as I did. He was there for me since I was a teenager. I remember him surprising me by buying my wedding dress and just being such a big male role model for me since my dad passed when I was ten. He took care of me during so many good and bad days. He’s so special and I’ll miss him forever.  I’m so sorry to his family and wish you all well.

He is such a loving, kind, sweet, accepting soul. You couldn't met a better man. He was there for you no matter what.  My heart breaks for all of us.

Bernetta and family, I pray that you feel God‘s warm embrace during this time. I am so sorry for your loss.

Yes, Tom served in the armed forces, worked around the clock in event coordination, and had an active role in many customer-oriented roles. For me, however, the most heroic thing he's ever done was being there for my grandmother as a young adult, being there for my mother during their childhood, and being an awesome travel partner for my parents. He is a hero, even and especially outside of his uniform. His heroism lies in his heart, his laughter, his hugs, his exuberance, and his constant desire to see ALL members of his family included, supported, and happy.

Thomas Thorne, much like his mother before him, was always up for good food, great company, and a grand adventure. He imparted light and life unto his siblings.

Tom’s favorite (Phase 10) card playing buddies; although that changed more than the weather! The NutCracker was Tom’s silent partner. Mildred and Tom were arch frenemies.
No matter the season, we had fun hanging out with Tom.

No one had a bigger heart than my Uncle.  As a kid, I remember our  visits to Florida as special events.  Every time he would see me, he would say my name with such excitement; as if he was truly as happy to see me as I was to see him.  When I would pout and whine because my parents wouldn't buy me some chocolate treats, he would always try to sneak it to me.  When i would go off on some childish tanget, he would sit and listen as if i was capable of having true insights.  As I grew older, I got to know Tom as just not my fun uncle, but as the caring and compassionate man he was.  But even in my 30s, he would still greet me and say my name with joy.   I can't describe in words how much I will miss him...but I will try to view life with the same joy that he did.

I will always and forever...miss you.

Thank you for all the times you got us into Disney and the memories made there. Thank you for hunting around every gift shop until you could secure the biggest Tigger on the market, one that was roughly my height and, eventually, well-worn from travel and affection. Thank you for all the jokes, the laughter, and the "muff-mans!". Thank you for the jolliness and the mirth. Thank you for your excitement every time we went to Florida and every time you came to us. Not a visit went by where you didn't eagerly and earnestly wrap me in a hug...Not a single visit in nearly 30 years. Thank you for your love. Thank you for reflecting Grandma back at me in every facet with your compassion, joy, enthusiasm, and humor, even after she left this Earth. Please tell her we miss her when you see her. I love you so much uncle.

God bless Thomas, and God bless Bernetta and all her family. Thomas was a lucky man to be surrounded with so much love.

The Thorne siblings and I are friends.  Because Tom was the eldest, I announced to him first that I was “adopting ” myself into the family. He was OK with that. And since then when I am introduced by or to a member of the family or friends, I proudly announce my adopted status and laugh at some of the quizzical looks.

Praying for you all in this most difficult time. Although I only met your brother a couple of times, I could see how truly special he was. Such a loving and gentle person. May you find some solace knowing that he is with God now.

I never saw Tom without a smile.   That's how I'll always remember him.

Thomas was in the Navy. He never became a proficient swimmer, however, he loved the beach. He had the opportunity to hang out at the beach in November. I’m sure, because of Jesus, everyone in Heaven can walk on water, no swimming required!
