Virginia Irene “Jeni” Corderman Keyser passed away November 17th at Kelley’s Family Care Home in Wake Forest, North Carolina. Jeni was born in Hagerstown, MD to Mary (Frush) and Roscoe Corderman and graduated from North Hagerstown High School.

She was the youngest of 3 siblings, and is survived by her sister Ann Helton of Havre de Grace, MD and James Corderman of Raleigh, NC.

Jeni was dedicated to her large family and especially to her girls, Kara Keyser Shore and Kathryn Keyser Shanaberger (Todd), as well as her beloved stepchildren and grandchildren. She found joy in cooking, gardening, and her large circle of friends. A life-long learner, she studied at Hagerstown Junior College, Hagerstown Business College, and earned her BA in Communication Arts from Hood College in Frederick, MD in 1997.

A proud small business, womens’ and voting rights advocate, Jeni supported these causes through her volunteer work. Her house was always a home, and there were never too many at the table for her delicious meals, holiday parties, or birthday soirees. Jeni hosted Rotary Exchange students from England, Costa Rica and France and delighted in travel - car rides to Ocean City, RV camping in Florida or visiting castles in Europe. Jeni moved to Raleigh, NC in 2000.

She continued volunteering with her church and sending her loving Hallmark cards throughout her battle with Frontotemporal Dementia, and despite her illness was rarely without her beautiful smile.

Visitation will be held at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 300 Saint Mary's St. in Raleigh on Tuesday November 30th from 6-8pm. A Service of Witness to the Resurrection will be held at White Memorial Presbyterian Church in Raleigh on December 1st at 2pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the Dementia Alliance of North Carolina https://dementianc.org/
