A celebration of life will be held at Hayes Barton United Methodist Church in Raleigh on April 1, 2014 11:00 a.m. – 2 p.m. Senior Pastor Rick Clayton of Hayes Barton United Methodist Church will be officiating.
Ginger was born in Raleigh, NC to Richard Donald and Virginia Smith Crowe on August 31, 1945. She attended Kinston High School and graduated in 1963 where she served as head cheerleader and voted most athletic. From there she proceeded to earn a nursing degree from Watts School of Nursing Duke University Health System in Durham, NC in 1966. In the ‘80’s she enjoyed teaching disco and shag dancing with her husband as well as leading Sunday school classes. She went on to be a successful mother, wife, grandmother, philanthropist and realtor. She was passionate about helping others and did so through her many charitable activities: fostering babies, hosting high school exchange students, caring for hospice patients, driving patients to chemotherapy, delivering meals on wheels, working at the Open Door Clinic and Urban Ministries.
Ginger was an incredibly nurturing mother. She was vibrant and full of life with a giant heart. She loved fashion and wearing as she would say, “the unexpected.” The word most people used to describe her was “classy.” Ginger loved her family, friends, and dogs - Cameron and Zoe. She loved the outdoors and cherished her times in Blowing Rock and her walks with family and friends around Bass Lake. She was also a devoted Cameron Crazy – Go Duke! She cherished her valuable time with her grandkids and said she “could never get enough sugar from them.” Her kisses were infinite and will be missed greatly!
Ginger was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Virginia; and her son Richard Todd. Ginger is survived by her sister Patricia Anne Goodheart of Raleigh, daughter Aven Rogers Burt of Wake Forest, husband Reginald Carr Rogers, two grandchildren Foster Todd Burt and Smith Aven Burt, son-in-law Mark Anthony Burt, M.D., and her Brazilian “son” Yuri Feria.
